An expert in antiquities, our client came to us for a modern spin on a classic Roman floor. We began with two fish “swimming” around a small pool of fluid black tile, but the client soon requested we redesign the mosaic to be larger, and the project evolved from a small pantry closet to the house’s primary foyer -- a visitor’s first impression and the homeowner’s welcome to his guests. The end result featured more than 68 organisms – from the humble sea star to the majestic octopus, and everything in between - rendered in lifelike detail.
MARBLE & STONE

Sourcing natural stone and marble from around the world, we were able to develop a full chromatic spectrum that allowed us to achieve subtle gradations of color. Our tiles - some just millimeters across - were all cut and placed by hand to render the organisms as expressive and lifelike as possible.
